 1. Will massage therapy help with my condition?

The effects of massage therapy depend on the individual’s condition and goals.  every body reacts different, but there is consistent evidence that massage is an efficient treatment for several pathologies and also stress management. There are physiological effects  that can be felt immediately after a session, as some others that may not be as heightened in the same day but instead in the next few days following the treatment. The total effects of a massage treatment could be considered accumulative.  In other words, the more consistently you get massage, the deeper the progress will be.

Massage also affect the nervous system and stimulates the functioning of the parasympathetic system, regulating bodily functions and activities, releasing various feel-good and anti-stress hormones such as oxytocin and endorphins, dopamine and serotonin. Your body and mind shift towards a more relaxed state that helps with anxiety and depression.

If you prefer, I offer a 15 minutes Free Consultation so we can discuss your issues and expectations and you can be more confident if massage is right for you!

 2. Will the treatment hurt?

If at any time the treatment you are receiving is causing you too much discomfort, let me know by saying “that is too much.” Be open and let me know how your are feeling and your treatment will be much more enjoyable and productive. The old adage “no pain no gain” is not relevant to every bodywork session, in fact the pain level should not surpass a level of 7 (in a scale of 0 to 10). If there is some pain, you should feel better at the end of the session and the treatments will become more comfortable as your condition improves. After bodywork, you may feel some mild discomfort or muscle soreness for a few days until your body readjusts and heals itself.

 3. What modalities of massage are offered?

I offer massage sessions that are tailored for your needs, with focus on relaxation and therapeutic progress. In my traditional treatment, also called integrative, I utilize techniques of the following modalities: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Esalem, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Reflexology, and Cupping.

You can also chose to have a specific session of Hot Stones Massage, Chair Massage and, if you would like to experience a different type of massage, the Hawaiian Lomi Lomi. You can read more about the modalities descriptions and prices by clicking here.

 4. Are there contraindications?

As usual, the only undraped body part will be the one receiving the work, except for Lomi Lomi (where the draping is made differently however your intimate parts are draped at all times). Your expectations towards draping are always discussed prior to the beginning of your session and can always be modified to accommodate your needs.

*Your intimate parts will be securely draped at all times, for your comfort and safety.

No! In my practice you will be draped at all times. I work with classic draping and during the session I will have exposed only the quadrant I am working on. Your intimate parts will be covered at all times.
